FAQs

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a system of physical and mental practices that originated more than 6,000 years ago. Its purpose is to connect your mind, body and spirit. Yoga reduces stress and the fatigue we carry in our bodies.

I am new. Can I buy the "New Student $20 for 1 week of Unlimited Yoga" offer online?

YES!  The “New Student $20 for 1 week of Unlimited Yoga” option is available for purchase online, beginning opening day – September 15th.

Do Cleveland Yoga Concord passes and memberships apply at other Cleveland Yoga locations?

Cleveland Yoga Concord class passes and memberships are only applicable at the Concord location. Any current Cleveland Yoga members from additional studios are invited to join us for a special $10 drop-in rate.  You will be asked to validate your current CY membership upon class sign-in.

What classes are best suited for me, as a yoga newbie?

Start with our Slow Flow or Power Yoga Basics classes, or give our Beginner’s Workshops a try. In no time, you will become familiar with the poses and you will soon be comfortable in any class on our schedule.

Am I too inflexible for yoga?

That’s like being too dirty for a bath! Practice regularly and you will quickly gain flexibility and strength. All of our classes engage and stretch your muscles, improving your balance, focus, power and range of motion.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable exercise pants, leggings or shorts made of breathable fabric. A form-fitting top made of a supple fabric will make your practice more comfortable. Check out the Breathe Boutique for some of our favorite clothing for both men and women. Bare feet only in the studio, please.

Do I need a mat?

Yes. You will need a yoga sticky mat. If you do not own one, you can rent one from us for $2.00 or purchase one of our many varieties in the Breathe Boutique.  If you are on the New Student $20 for 1 Week of Unlimited Yoga, your first visit rental mat is free. You will also want to bring a towel for your mat. Sweat can quickly make your sticky mat a slippery mat.

Can I come to any class on the schedule?

Yes, but our classes fill up. Ensure you get a spot in your favorite class by using our online advance registration.

How do I sign up?

Passes can be purchased at the studio or online by setting up an account on our MindBody web-scheduler. For our cost of classes passes, check out our pricing page.

What is the meaning of OM and why do we OM before class?

OM is an ancient mantra, a primordial vibration (definition: prīˈmôrdēəl ~ existing at or from the beginning of time). We start and end many of our classes by chanting three OMs [one to the past, one to the present, and one to the future] to create harmony and unity within the class.

What is the meaning of Namaste?

Our classes always end with the teacher and students reciting the word Namaste. Simply said, Namaste means: “The Light in Me Honors The Light in You.” Reciting Namaste this together offers a place of connection.
